“When virtue and modesty enlighten her charms, the lustre of a beautiful woman is brighter than the stars of heaven, and it is in vain to resist the influence of her power.”
– Akhenaton quotes (King of Egypt, 14th century BC)

Your body is the temple of knowledge. – Egyptian Proverb

Luxor is a collaboration shoot with the designer Kristine Hawthorne in Seattle Washington, whose business name is Helene Hawthorne, after her grandmother who taught her to sew. We spent this day on Camino Island where we shot in the lovely beach front home of Kristine’s Uncle Steve and Aunty Liz. Liz is a home decorator and her place was filled with wonderful art and decorated in exquisite taste, rich brocades, velvet’s and satin’s covered the beds and upholstered furniture, furs and objects of interest, and delicate antiques on all the walls and tables. Inlay-ed Chinese screens, and gilded benches among the treasures. The garden was also lovely and the ocean view beautiful.

Our make up artist, one of my favorite people from Vancouver Kat Morris came to work her magic for an Egyptian theme with a modern twist. I love the looks she created for this series.

Kristine has two distinct lines of clothing, one is a period style, Victorian gowns both long and short. The other are modern little dresses, more for evening wear and special occasions. These are what we shot for Luxor.

Our models Lanna Barrones and Erin Khalsa wore wigs that were cut and styled by the designer Kristine to fit with the theme.
