Nina Pak, Miroir’s Art Director and Photographer, saw some familiar faces on a trip to Lisa Sette Gallery, now located in downtown Phoenix.
Lisa Sette Gallery 210 East Catalina Drive, Phoenix, Arizona 85012. Lisa Sette Gallery is one of my all time favorite haunts in Arizona. ___ She represents artists I love and I am always pleased to go to her events. The gallery used to be in Scottsdale but she has recently moved to a wonderful new building in downtown Phoenix.
When I was last in Phoenix I caught an opening at the gallery. Rachel Bess and Jessica Joslin each had a room filled with wonderful new work. I also met Jessica’s husband Jared Joslin at the event, who is a talented painter I admire. These three artists have been personal favorites of mine for a long time, so it was a great surprise! Jessica is published in our Animalia theme issue, and Jared is published in Muse. Rachel is published in our Muse collection. I went to the opening with a friend who has been my muse for many years, Cristiana Cole, who also modeled for a painting by Rachel that was in the show. As I was walking around the gallery I had another surprise: Portland based model Kira Beth Distler, who has worked with me in Canada on several occasions, was there! She too is one of Rachel’s models for two paintings that were in the show. When we saw each other we could not believe our eyes to see each other in an unexpected city! It was a happy gathering and a great show.
