As a young girl Sabina often spent time dabbling at her uncle’s and aunt’s atelier; seduced by the aromas and the magical atmosphere, these sessions undoubtedly set the base for her artistic development. A treasure hunter at heart and fascinated with the diversity of cultures and people, she was especially infatuated with anything that seemed different or exotic, be it trinkets from far-away countries, customs from distant lands, or new ways of approaching old habits. This passion and curiosity also led to her interest in psychology.

She studied music at the conservatory of Vienna to which she was accepted at a young age of 12, joining the class of Prof. Inge Scholl-Kremmel for classical guitar.

Fine art photographer known for her fantastical and dream-like portraits.
She earned a master’s degree in classical piano from Royal College of Music after graduating from University of British Columbia and the Vancouver Academy of Music.
A classically trained pianist, she is a registered Royal Conservatory of Music teacher and has performed in music festivals around the world. The White Horses collection by Rhys Ellis seen on these pages emerged from the inescapable environmental issue concerning our planet’s oceans and aims to stimulate an empowering movement for change.
Inspired by the rapid deterioration and bleaching of the coral reefs caused by climate change, White Horses studies the journey in which the natural vibrancy of the underwater world becomes depleted by our own hands.
The irresponsible destruction of the oceans makes a huge impact on the many species that rely on the coral reefs’ eco systems, inevitably leading to the demise of our precious marine life.

Rhys Ellis donates a portion of his income from his design wear to support the Big Blue Ocean Clean Up and he is also a member of the Fair Wear Foundation.

Q: Tell us about your art and what inspired you to produce imagery about futuristic, science fiction or fantasy themes.

A: My work deals mainly with issues of gender parity, women’s empowerment and propaganda. In today’s world we are in desperate need to create a different narrative of women as capable, strong and empowered. Most of Western culture and history is told from a man’s perspective and we are frequently exposed to imagery that objectifies women and portrays them as accessories. I want to change that by using the visual language and symbolism of propaganda that I was exposed to growing up in East Berlin. I use military outfits and accessories as attributes of power and agency in my paintings.
