Costanza Tagliaferri interview with Zoe Lacchei

Q: Could you describe the evolution of your style, and how you arrived to prefer this medium?

A: My artistic journey has been extremely tortuous. I have been drawing in every field; from porno comics to sophisticated comic strips, from creating videogame’s character design to pure illustration. Every single step of my journey pushed me towards a change, an evolution in both style and content. Today, I am using the medium that not only gave me the opportunity to best represent my ‘visions’, but that also made me recognizable among the other artists working with graphite on paper.

Surrealist Painter Chie Yoshii

The surrealist painter Chie Yoshii is a Los Angeles-based, Japanese-born artist who creates beautiful oil paintings that explore timeless psychological themes with a contrasting mix of techniques and styles.
夢 (DREAMS) will feature 11 new oil paintings and three drawings on paper in Yoshii’s signature surreal female figurative style.

Much of her work is inspired by the relationship between human psychology and mythical archetypes. The enduring themes are woven into surrealities filled with symbols and visual narratives. The enigmatic images embody contradicting elements such as novelty and nostalgia, innocence and sensuality, and strength and fragility, mirroring the complexity of our psyche. more » “Surrealist Painter Chie Yoshii”
