Miroir: What inspired VALT?

Kat Ferneyhough: There are several alternative fashion events occurring around the globe, and upon deciding to move to the west coast, we found it surprising that a city as creative and unique as Vancouver didn’t already have one. After years of operating as an event coordinator for art exhibitions, mini music festivals, and fashion shows myself, plus Kat Kozak’s experience documenting and managing events as well, it seemed only natural to develop one here together.

Lauren Smith is the creator of these gorgeous makeup looks, ranging from fresh-faced beauty to the darker, more dramatic ones.

Lauren is a Seattle-based, self-taught makeup artist who started off in other areas of art, like poetry and sketching. She also loves surrealism (which is so Miroir!). She has a passion for colours and that surely translates in her beautiful work seen here. more » “Makeup artist: Lauren Smith”

When I first saw April Peters Designs, I was floored.
The amount of exquisite textile appreciation and attention to detail will amaze you.  The Pieces are Grand to say the least. We only hope a museum would be so lucky someday to have April’s pieces on display. What a beautiful eccentric talented woman.

It’s always a pleasure to shoot with Nina because it’s a very inspiring process, and I can see myself grow as an artist. I still remember the first few times we shot together, I would stay up all night to plan looks in my head and look at different photos online to get ideas. I know I have grown because in the more recent shoots with Nina I can plan as I go and get inspired while at the shoot.— Rachel Kerby
