Interview with the Artist Valentina Brostean

Q: How long have you been an artist? Please tell us a little about your chosen medium.

A: I was involved in different creative forms and expressions throughout art since the early childhood – I was always with a pen in my hands:) Officially I guess it was when I chosen art high school and later on of course Academy of Fine Art in Novi Sad, Serbia, place where I was born and grew up.

Q: Have you been trained, and if so from what institution? Or are you self taught?

A: I graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts Novi Sad. I hold the BFA degree in graphic design and MFA degree in Illustration and Book design. I am self thought regarding painting which was my big passion even if I never did it in a traditional / classical way. It was always exploration of medium that was corresponding to the needs of my personal style that was more illustrative. more » “Interview with the Artist Valentina Brostean”

Interview with the Artist Paolo Pedroni

Q: How long have you been an artist? Please tell us a little about your chosen medium.

A: I may say I’ve always been an artist. Since I was a kid, I was interested in making my fantasies tangibles. In the beginning, I chose to work with digital painting as it allowed me to experiment and to avoid weighing time. Lately, I started again with oil painting. I hate repeating myself, both with subjects and techniques.

Interview with Elena Ismail

Q: Tell us about your styling and design work and what first sparked an interest in these creative mediums.

A: I grew up in Palestine in the midst of war. I can’t say I was poor but the nature of life at the time didn’t allow us to have access to many things people take forgranted. For example for christmas, when my mom would setup the tree, we couldn’t just go to a store and find a variety of ornaments, so my mom taught us how to make our own from papermache.

Or when we had to stay home for several days under siege, my mom would keep us busy by showing us how to make marionette puppets, also from papermache, so we can create a play. And when I got my first Barbie, I only had the one dress that came with her, so I started to sew because I wanted her to have a change of outfits like what I saw on TV. I grew up with the notion that anything I can’t buy, I can make with basic materials and a bit of imagination.
